Emma's Tonsils
I've been bad about keeping up with this again!
We took Emma to the ENT dr on Monday to have her tubes check - just a check up that was suppose to happen 3 months ago (we had to reschedule).
Anyway, her ears are fine. Her tonsils are HUGE! He gave her an antibiotic to see if we could get the swelling down - she was having a hard time breathing and her nose was running worse than normal. I chalked it up to allergies...I couldn't have been more wrong!
Anway, the medicine seems to be doing the trick - with the wonderful side effects that go w/ an antibiotic.
He does not want to treat this surgically (yet). He will if he has to, though. He said that taking tonsils and adenoids out of cleft affected child could adversely affect her speech (which she's already having trouble with).
He said taking the tonsils out isn't as bad as removing the adenoids, so if he has to, he can take the tonsils out and maybe just take part of the adenoids out.
At any rate, we go back in August to do another check (unless there's something obviously wrong). After just 4 days of antibiotic, there's been a huge improvement. Thank goodness!!
