Josh and the Dentist

Josh had a dentist appointment on Monday. He did such a great job!!

They took x-rays for the first time. He didn't even flinch even though I knew he was a little scared.

No cavities! Yeah!

His 6 year molars are coming in - had no clue. He hasn't really complained about them at all.

We also found out that his 2 front bottom teeth are starting to wiggle a little bit. He was told that it wouldn't be that much longer before they were loose...not sure how soon that means, but she did say that they should be out before his birthday (which is in June).

I'm not sure I'm ready for his teeth to start falling out! :) He's so excited about it!

Josh also got a new haircut over the weekend. He wanted his hair to stand up! Well, it's standing up! I'm not quite as good as the gal that cut his hair, but I'm getting better. You can see his new "do" in the picture above. :)

The first day he went to school with his haircut, he said he let everyone touch his hair (it had gel and hairspray in it). By the time everyone touched it, it had fallen. :)

Emma's speech evaluation

Well, I sure wasn't expecting what we heard today!

They said that Emma is in the normal level of speech development for her age! :shock I guess that means Callie is way beyond her age. Mom said as soon as Phil & Emma left, Callie just looked at her and said, "Where's Emma?" "Daddy?" "Mommy?" "Josh?" She went down the whole list wondering why she was left there all alone!

Emma's in the low end of normal, but she doesn't qualify for speech therapy!

We were told to have her pediatrician look at her in about 6 months and see what they think. If they think she's not where she needs to be, then we'll go back and be re-evaluated. He showed us some things to do to work with her.

He said her comprehension is well beyond what it should be for her age (yay). She was above normal there. :) That was never a concern of mine, though. I KNEW she was comprehending.

It was funny, because she didn't want to cooperate the whole time, but when she was asked to point out certain objects, she did so like she was bored...she was like, "Why are you asking me these stupid questions?".

I don't know what I really think of all of this. I was fully prepared to start therapy - now we don't (yet). We'll just keep working with her at home and see how she does. It's funny, because in the last 2 days, she's really made an effort to talk (she hasn't really even tried much before).

Cute Stories

Callie's getting really good with her colors. Last night, she was being silly (as usual) and we were looking at her color book. Every time she would say a color, she would jump up and say "Res (Red), Oranjjjje (orange), ello (yello), boo (blue), purple, pink, back (black), white!!!" She was so excited! We actually got it on video - hopefully, I can get a snipet of that on our site at some point.

The girls were funny during bathtime last night. I had already gotten Emma out and dressed. She came back in and hid behind the shower curtain. Callie started saying, "Whhhheeer's Emma?" Emma would jump out from behind the curtain and both girls would just squeal!!

Emma's still not talking much, but she can identify anything you ask her to. Callie's talking all the time...and everything is "me, me, me". :) Callie's not very good about sharing yet. Josh told me the other day that Callie was just being mean to him and Emma. :) He doesn't quite understand that the girls don't understand alot about manners and sharing yet...we're working on it, though! :)
