Teeth & Tummies

I noticed yesterday that Callie now has 5 teeth. 2 on top and 3 on bottom. The 3rd on on the bottom just poked through yesterday, I think.

Josh said his tummy hurts. :( We came home from mom & dad's on Saturday and Josh couldn't eat a single bit of his supper. He finally managed to eat half of a roll and a few sips of Sprite. He said he didn't feel like throwing up, so we're not sure what's wrong. He said it was because he ate too much cake. Well, he didn't...he ate the icing off of 1 piece of cake (and not a very big one).

Sunday, Josh still didn't feel good. He managed to eat about 1 egg for breakfast and a bowl of Apple Jacks for lunch. He did eat another cup of AJ for a snack and then 1/2 grilled cheese sandwich for supper.

After he went to bed, I went up to check on him. He said, "I smell chocolate!". I confessed to having a small piece of chocolate cake. I told him I'd save him a piece for tomorrow. He just looked at me with this serious look and said, "I don't like that chocolate cake, mama. It made my tummy hurt. I'll never eat dessert again!". Okay, I don't believe him, but I do wonder what's going on with him. It's not like him to not be hungry. Phil thinks he's constipated. He may be - we'll see how he does tonight (I don't think he's ever had a bm at school). Hopefully, it's nothing more than constipation. I couldn't get him to eat enough food yesterday to get any fiber into him.

More Updates

Emma finally pushed herself into a sitting position from a laying down position. She's been so close to it for 2 months now. HA! She may have been doing this longer, but I just saw her for the first time last night.

She's been pulling up for ages now, but never could quite get to a sitting position when she was laying down.

The girls are so funny together...they were "fighting" over a toy this morning. I think Emma won (she had it to begin with).

Last night, both girls were fussy, so I was holding both of them. Emma all of a sudden got quiet and I could tell she was looking at me. So, I looked over at her (she was kind of on my shoulder) and she had this big impish grin on her face and her hand on a stack of magazines. She was slowly pulling them towards her...I think she really knew she wasn't suppose to do that...she thought it was really funny. :)

Poor Callie - she was in the tub last night (with Emma & Phil) and she kept trying to get up. So, Phil barely touched her hand and said, "No". Callie looked up at Phil and just started this pitiful cry! You would have thought she was in the worst trouble of her life!!

Callie was the first one in the tub (which made her happy), but when she saw Emma getting in, Callie was so excited!! She has this little "thing" she does when she gets excited. She puts her hands in a fist and shakes them while she's kind of "grunting" which is really a laugh. It was nice to see her happy about seeing her sister. :)

Today was silly hat and pizza party day at Josh's school. We finally found his clown hat that he got at the circus. He was very happy about that. :) I felt bad because he wanted me to go to his pizza party today (other mommies do). :( I never did find out what time it was going to be - his teacher wasn't there when I dropped him off this morning. I did tell him that I couldn't make it to all of the parties, but I would try to make it to the next one (I did go to his Christmas party).

New Office and Stuff

My company moved to a new office again (we keep outgrowing the offices we're in). Actually, our company is in about 4 offices right now and we're trying to all come back together. We're the first group to move.

We're at Centerpoint Plaza on Lovell Rd...it's wonderful, because it's literally 5 minutes from home! Yay!! It's not a bad facility - I think I'll like it here.

Callie is still trying to stand on her own. She's so funny - she pushes off of things and stands there for a few seconds and you can tell she's just thrilled! She gets so excited!!! Emma hasn't shown any interest in standing on her own yet. That's fine - Callie is hard enough to keep up with! She is a girl on the go! I found her under Phil's computer table yesterday standing up. She just laughed when I found her. :)

Josh is a complete goof as usual. This morning, he came in our room and said, "I'm Josh Butler and I'm goofy!". Boy, isn't that the truth!

Yesterday afternoon, he came into the kitchen and said, "Mama, I have to show you something". So, he literally pulls me into the living room and over to the trash can and said, "How did THAT get in there?". He found some icecream wrappers where Phil & I had some icecream the night before - Busted!!

Emma has another dr appointment this afternoon to turn her screw again. Hopefully, we'll find out if we have a surgery date or not!! He wants to do the surgery some time in March, but they have to coordinate it with the dentist and ENT dr.

Just Stuff...

Callie & Emma had their synagis shot this morning. They have to be weighed each month for that.

Callie is a whopping 22 lbs 1 oz (11 months & 2 days) and Emma is 17 lbs 12 oz.

Callie just plain loves to eat! HA!

Even though the girls seem big, a family was at the doctor's office with twin boys. They were 6 months old and weighed around 15 lbs! That's only 2 lbs less than Emma! They didn't seem overly big, but they did look bigger than 6 months. They were adorable!

We went to Ruby Tuesday last night with the Harris'. We had a ball. The weather was horrible - it was raining hard! However, that worked to our advantage, I think, because the restaurant wasn't very crowded (good thing, since there were 9 of us!). Josh may spend tomorrow with Nathan (if Cindy is brave enough for both boys). :)

Cute Stuff

I have to keep remembering to type cute things down here so I can transfer this to baby books at some point! HA!

Josh and I were leaving for school/work yesterday morning when Emma looked up at us and started waving and saying "bye bye". I'm not sure she understood what bye bye meant, but it was so cute! After she said it, I said it back and then Callie started saying "bye bye". Awww!!!

When I was feeding the girls their veggies on Wednesday afternoon, they started talking to each other. Callie looked at Emma and said, "dadadadada babababa". When she was finished, Emma looked at Callie and said, "mamamama". :) It was too cute!!

Callie & Emma are both clapping now. However, Callie can "patty cake", too. She claps her hands and then rolls them out! Now, if we could get her to "throw them in the pan", she'd have it down! :) Emma just claps her hands.

Josh's favorite thing to say now is, "You wanna talk about something?". Every day, when he needs to have a bm, he asks Phil or me to come to the door with him so we talk about something. Examples of these conversations:
Josh: You wanna talk about something
Phil/Me: Sure
Josh: You wanna talk about walls?
Phil/Me: Sure
Josh: How are walls made?
Phil/Me: We come up with some sort of intelligent reply (HA).
He goes through this every time - always with a new "item". :)

Emma's new tooth

I discovered tooth #5 for Emma last night. She now has 3 teeth on top and 2 on the bottom (that I can see and feel anyway). It will be interesting to see how the rest of her teeth come in with her cleft.

Callie has 3 teeth now - she finally had 1 break through on the top. :)

They're starting to look all grown up with those teeth!!

Ramblings

Emma had her monthly appt with her plastic surgeon yesterday - another turn of the screw (in the appliance that is stretching her palate). Anyway, he wants to get her next surgery on the books!! They're coordinating now with the dentist and the ENT (she'll have to have tubes). I'm excited and scared at the same time! The dr said she'll have to stay overnight and as long as she's drinking soon after surgery, she'll be able to go home the next day. It doesn't sound like this one will be quite as rough on her as the lip surgery.

We went out to eat with friends last night and they gave the girls the sweetest little gold bracelets! Josh got a set of Hot Wheel cars (which he loves). They also gave each of the kids $100!! Wow!! We're going to open up a savings account for each one of them with it.

Phil told Josh that they'd go out this weekend and buy more hot wheels track. :) They've been having a blast playing with the few pieces of track that he has.

We found out at church the other night that there are 2 families expecting multiples now! One girl is expecting twins and the other is expecting quadruplets!! Yikes!! Both are about 10 weeks along right now. I can't even imagine having quads! Twins are so hard (fun, but hard). :)

No more therapy!!

We had an appointment with the main doctor who decides if a patient needs therapy or not. She took one look at the girls and immediately said, "These girls don't need therapy - they're perfectly fine!". That was my opinion, too, but that didn't seem to matter to the therapists.

Callie's been going to Occupational Therapy for the last few weeks. She's sometimes a little stiff when you pick her up. I've finally decided that she just doesn't like to be messed with. She's finally relaxing when we pick her up - not too happy when someone she doesn't know picks her up, but otherwise, she's just fine. She's crawling, sitting up from any position, pulling up on anything she can get her hands on, etc.

Emma's almost sitting up from any position - all she needs to do is "let go". :) If she would just take her hand and give a tiny push, she would be sitting up just fine. She can pull up, but doesn't do it as much as Callie. She's also doing more of the army man crawl than a normal crawl...after being evaluated, the therapists didn't feel she needed any therapy anyway, so she hasn't had to go. Whew! She'll probably have her turn when it comes to speech.

I am so glad to be rid of the OT appointment. We were going every other week, but it always seemed to come around too fast! This will be one less appt we have to deal with.

Funnies from Josh

One of these days I'm going to remember to write everything down the kids say! Yeah, right.

Josh and I were going to run out to the mailbox the other day. I didn't bother putting shoes on at all. He just looked at me with his cute little grin and said, "I'm going out foot barren!" Oops - what he meant to say was "bare footed"! :)

Last night, I was telling Josh that the holidays were over and that he had to go back to school tomorrow. He just looks at me with his grin again and said, "I'm probably going to be sick tomorrow!".

Finally, Josh had a little paper cut on his thumb, so he insisted on a band aid. Well, this morning, he decided he couldn't get his pants off because of his bandaid. I helped him...Later, I asked him to put his coat on. He said he couldn't because of his bandaid. He said, "I can't touch anything but toys with this hand and I can touch food with my other hand". :) So, he could touch toys with his "hurt" hand. LOL
