My Prince and Princesses

My friend, Kim, bought the girls princess gowns and slippers. They wore them to bed last night. The only problem is, Emma wasn't too thrilled w/ the gown and we found her without her princess gown on when we went to bed. :)

However, while the girls DID have their gowns and slippers on, they sure did enjoy themselves. They twirled around and just had a good time! :)

Bye Bye, Memo!!

For the last 2 weeks, Emma has had to hug her friend at daycare. He's a little boy (we'll call him J) who is actually smaller than Emma. :)

Well, yesterday when we left, he was standing at the door. He waved his hand and yelled, "Bye bye, Memo!!" to Emma. :) I think Emma has a new nickname. Emma calls herself Memma, so Memo is close! :)

This morning I was asking Callie & Emma who their friends were at school. Emma said, "J, Jack, Matthew"...all boys. Callie listed her friends at church and then her friends at school: "Miss Pat, Miss Jennifer, Miss Allie, Miss Nancy" - all teachers. :) Emma's list was all boys, Callie's list was all teachers...hmmm...I wonder what this means for later in life? Will Callie be the teacher's pet? Will Emma be a complete flirt?

Wacky Wednesday

Today is Wacky Wednesday at Josh's school. This means they can dress as wacky as they want. :) Josh had a tie dyed t-shirt - inside out, pair of red shorts, 1 white sock, 1 blue sock and a bright orange hat - worn sideways. Oh yeah - he parted his hair down the middle (which will probably no longer be an issue when he takes his hat off). :)

He had a blast dressing for today - he thought is was "cool". :) Hey - anything to get him to go to school happy!!

He had a meltdown yesterday and it took me 30 minutes to drop him off at school. I think he was just tired...he got in bed about 30 minutes later than normal the night before and I guess that was just enough to set him off. Luckily, he came home in a much better mood.

Weekend Update

Phil and I got to go see a movie yesterday. I can't remember the last time we went to see a movie in a theater! :) We saw The Bourne Ultimatum. It was pretty good.

Emma's had some pretty nasty side effects from the antibiotic she's been on this week. She's had diarrhea that has absolutely blistered her bottom. We have tried everything to get rid of it. Phil went to the pharmacy yesterday and they gave him some tablets that should help...He also called our ENT and he prescribed a cream that should help, too. I hope so! We've quit giving her the antibiotic for now because it's been so bad.

This round has really been more for prevention than anything. Her ears had alot of fluid in them, but not infected (yet) and her tonsils were swollen (again). I just can't bring myself to put her through this again. She's been miserable the last few days...she took it for about 4-5 days before this started.

I can't tell you how many loads of laundry we've had to do just to clean up the messed up clothes. :(

No more Augmentin for us...YUCK!

Happy Anniversary to us!

Today is our 10 year anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been that long!

Phil surprised me at work this morning with a dozen red roses. :) He was getting ready to head out for his uncle's funeral.

I got him a Bulova watch which looks really nice on him. :) He's going to get me an anniversary ring as soon as we find just the right one.

We're also going out on Saturday. I think we're going to see a movie and then go to dinner. We have a great babysitter who is giving up her Saturday afternoon for us.

What a weekend...

Our washer went out last week. We had a repairman come by on Friday. He said we could replace a $300 part and it "MIGHT" fix it, but it might not. We decided we'd just get a new washer.

Well, Friday night, we went to the laundry mat. We were going to take both vehicles in case the kids needed to come home. I got in my car and it wouldn't start! Luckily, it was just the battery and we were able to get it fixed on Saturday.

Emma had an ENT appointment on Monday. Her ears are still filled with fluid, making it hard for her to hear. Her tonsils are still swollen. She's back on an antibiotic for the next 2 weeks. :( The dr did say he wanted to put tubes back in her ears at some point...not sure when. We go back in October to have her hearing tested again.

At 3:00 yesterday, I got a call from daycare asking me if I had Josh...ummm...No, don't you? Long story short, his school thought I was picking him up on Monday (I am suppose to pick him up today, not yesterday). They kept him back w/ the carpoolers. Luckily, daycare was on top of things and waited on him to be found. Poor guy - I think it scared him a little bit. :(

Phil's parents got a call yesterday afternoon saying Robert's brother had passed away. We didn't have any other information other than that. Later, they got word that he had had a stroke...don't know when or anything. That whole situation is a little strange. Phil's uncle's son wouldn't let him have any contact with the rest of the family, so we were totally unaware of what was going on. :(

It's been quite the weekend. We still don't have a washer. After many hours of research, we still don't have a clue what to buy. The reviews on most washers are horrible! I think we're going to go w/ a plain jane washer - no bells or whistles (see where that got us this time). The washer that just died was only 6 years old...digital, large capacity, etc. I loved my washer. They quit making it because of the problems they were having with it - I just wish we had known about those problems 6 years ago.

Oh - Thursday is our 10 year anniversary! :) I guess I'm getting a washer for our anniversary.

We have Poop in the Potty!

We haven't been working too hard w/ potty training the girls. I know they're ready, but since I work full time, I'm not there to consistently try to potty train.

This morning, I was staying w/ Callie until Phil's parents got to the house (Emma had an ENT appointment). Callie comes to me and says, "I go poo poo in the big potty". So, I take her to the bathroom and then she says, "No, I go poo poo in the little potty". So, I get her situated and voila! We have poop! :) It wasn't much, but that doesn't matter.

I flushed it down the toilet and she had to ask where the poo poo was going. :) Are we all that possessive of our poop? HA!

Callie is now wearing Princess Pull Ups. Hopefully, she'll try to go to the potty again today!

One more trip to the doctor

When Emma was sick last week, they did a blood test to check things...her white blood count was very low. So, they wanted her to come back this week to be tested again. I took her to the doctor yesterday. The girl is such a goof!

When the nurse came to prick her finger, Emma just laughed. :) She watched the nurse while she dripped Emma's blood into the little tube - Emma was fascinated!! She didn't much care for the big Bugs Bunny bandaid that was put on her finger, though. That lasted about 5 minutes and then she was over it. HA!

Anyway, the blood tests all came back perfectly normal, so the virus she had last week was the culprit of her low blood count. Thank goodness!!

Funny from Callie

My in-laws were here yesterday keeping the girls. My mother in law was in the floor with the girls and asked Callie to get something for her. Callie looks at her and says, "Robert can get it". Robert if my father inlaw! It wasn't "Dranny can get it" (she calls Granddaddy - Dranny)...it was "Robert can get it!".

How did she even know his name was Robert? HA!!

The weekend

This weekend went better than last week as far as the sickies go. :) Everyone seems to be well right now.

Friday night was movie night. So, Josh wanted to watch Scooby Doo all evening. I gave it up around 9:00 and went to bed.

Saturday, we went over to Mom & Dad's to put in a vent in the storage building. According to Phil, we'd be home by lunch! HAHAHAHAHA! Sorry...we left at 4:30. They couldn't find the vent (mom and I have decided that it was never even purchased). They had the fan and the solar panel, but no vent. Anyway, Phil and Dad went all the way back to West Knoxville (45 minute drive) to get it (Phil thought it was at mom & dad's). To make a long story short, they couldn't find it and went to Lowe's and bought another one. They didn't get started until after lunch (when they wanted to be finished since it was so hot out).

Sunday was nice and quiet - we all took a nice long nap (I think Josh was watching Scooby Doo again).

Hopefully, this will be a nice quiet week. We have a parent/teacher conference tomorrow night. Emma has speech and another blood test on Thursday. Other than those 2 things, that's it for this week! :)

Note to Self

When changing the template on this blog, make sure all blog lists are saved...they are wiped out when you change templates. Yes, I learned the hard way. :) I hope I didn't forget to put anyone back!!

1st Day of School

Today is Josh's first day in 1st grade!! Yay!!

Last night, when he said his prayers, he said, "Please help me have fun in 1st grade and please don't let the fire alarm go off tomorrow". :) He wasn't happy when he found out there was an alarm in his classroom. He does NOT like loud noises.

He got up in a good mood...Phil fixed him some eggs for breakfast (better than a poptart!). He came back up, helped his sisters wake up and got dressed. He even let us take a few pictures of him. :)

When we got to the school, he was ready to go. He got out of the car by himself without a single complaint (or hesitation from being scared). He did a great job!

Callie was NOT happy about Josh going to "big" school. She wanted to go, too. She and Emma will have their turn in a few years.

Emma didn't seem to care one way or the other that Josh wasn't going to daycare with them. She just seemed to be happy to be back (she missed yesterday because of her illness).

Another trip to the doctor + School's starting!

Phil had to take Emma back to the doctor yesterday afternoon (she was just there on Monday). She acted like she was in some serious pain.

The dr said her ear looked better, but her throat looked worse. :( He did some blood work and found her white blood count was extremely low - borderline anemic. She has some kind of viral infection.

On top of the antibiotic, she has to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen every 6 hours (alternating the 2). She was in bad shape last night, but seems to be feeling more normal today.

While they were at the doctor, I took Josh and Callie by the school to meet Josh's 1st grade teacher. Her name is Mrs. West. She seems to be really sweet. She's an older lady, but seems to be very good with the kids - she asked Josh a bunch of questions without being sappy. :) We saw Josh's kindergarten teacher and she said we were going to really like Mrs. West. :)

Josh was excited about going to school until he found out there's a fire alarm in his room (instead of out in the hall). Hopefully, it won't be too bad tomorrow. I hope he'll be excited about going. We've been having a little trouble with him lately at daycare - he's just not wanted to go, so he pitches a fit every morning. I hope tomorrow will be different.

We've got a few more supplies to buy (tennis balls?!) before Friday...hopefully, I can get to Walmart tomorrow. :)

Another Fun Weekend (almost)

Friday night, Josh and I went school shopping, to take advantage of the tax free weekend. We got him a couple of blue jeans, wind pants, shorts and a bunch of shirts. Oh yeah, and we had to buy him a new pair of shoes because he came to the mall in flip flops (Phil meant to bring his other sandals, but forgot).

On Saturday, we all went to Splash Country. I think we were all worn out. Phil got too much sun because he wasn't feeling well by the time we left.

Sunday started out good. We went to church, came home, took a nap, etc. Well, around 5:00, Josh was on the stairs crying. He tried to climb over the baby gate and it pinched his thigh. Well, when I gave him a hug, I noticed he was burning up...he was running a 101 degree fever. I gave him some Tylenol and he felt a little better. He was still running a slight fever Monday morning, so I just kept him home from daycare (which thrilled him). By mid morning, the fever was totally gone and he was fine.

Emma decided she couldn't sleep Sunday night. She came to our bed and was up half the night.

She woke up happy Monday morning (ha!). By lunchtime, she was very cranky. I just assumed it was from lack of sleep. I gave them all lunch and Emma took a 2 hour nap. When she woke up, she was running a fever. We had already suspected another ear infection (why we didn't go w/ our gut feeling that morning, I don't know). Anyway, while I was on the phone w/ the doctor, she threw up all over the place.

The dr did confirm an ear infection - 10 days on amoxicillan. She threw up one more time last night, but that's because she drank too much, too fast. :(

Anyway, she's a little puny today, but making it.

Hopefully, the rest of us will stay well for another day or 2!!

Oh What a Night!

Emma didn't feel the need to go to bed last night. A couple of times after the kids had been put to bed, I heard her upstairs whining. So, I went and checked on her (twice). Both times, she was at the door trying to get out. I picked her up, hugged her and put her back in bed.

Well, at 11:00, when I went to bed, I went up to check on the kids...couldn't get the girls' bedroom door open. I called Phil. Emma was in front of it sound asleep. Phil was able to finally scoot her out of the way enough to get the door open. She woke up long enough to be picked up and carried back to bed.

At 3:00, we heard her trying to get out again - whining and obviously standing at the door. We both got up to get her - wound up bringing her back to our bed. She tossed and turned until 5:30!!

Phil and I were about dead when we got up this morning. Emma, on the other hand, got up singing and dancing and shouting, "Hi" to anyone that she saw. Ugh!! Why is she so happy this morning?!! HA!!
