Sickies everywhere!

Well, after Josh's episode of throwing up last week, the girls started in on Saturday.

Callie got sick Saturday night...Emma didn't start until Monday. Callie threw up Saturday and Sunday, Emma only on Monday. We took them to the dr on Monday and they gave Emma a shot to help control the nausea.

They both developed bad diarrhea. Callie finally started being more "normal" yesterday...Emma still had diarrhea. :( Neither of them are eating very much.

Tuesday night, it hit me. I threw up...Wed, I felt horrible. I felt better on Thursday, but the diarrhea has hit me this morning. I sure hope it doesn't last for a week like it did with the girls! :(

Hopefully, we'll all get back to normal soon! We're not sleeping very much and that makes us all feel worse.

Callie has a tooth!

Callie's first tooth popped through last night. It's funny, because I felt her gums yesterday morning and there was nothing. Last night, I felt again and there was a tiny tooth popping through!! :) I knew it was going to happen soon because her gums have felt a little swollen. I think she knows something's different - she kept running her tongue over it!

Yay Callie! :)

Emma now has 2 teeth, so Callie has a little catching up to do.

Josh stayed home from school yesterday. Wednesday night, he came into our room around midnight because he heard a noise and was scared. Well, 30 minutes later he said he was thirsty. Then he coughed a little and said his tummy didn't feel good...we scrambled out of bed to get him to the bathroom before he threw up - we were too late. :(

Josh threw up in our bed - all over the place! It was all over him, all over me, all over the bedspread, sheets, mattress cover...everywhere! It took us awhile to get him cleaned up - we just had to put him in the tub.

We finally got everything cleaned up, put the bedspread in the washer (remember, it's now about 1:00 in the morning) and Josh back to bed. Since our bed was stripped, I slept with Josh in his bed and Phil went downstairs to the couch. Well, a little while after we were all in bed, Josh said he was thirsty. I let him get a tiny drink of water - big mistake...he threw up again! This time, we made it to the bathroom and I helped him throw up in the toilet.

Poor little guy! I think it was something he ate (we had Mexican the night before) because he felt pretty good the following day. He was pretty cautious about eating, though. Who can blame him?!

Funnies From Josh

I don't even know where to begin...Josh has become a wealth of information and loves sharing it with us now. :)

The other night, we were all on the floor playing. When it came time to get up, Phil got "stuck". :) He was having a little trouble getting off of the floor...here comes Josh to the rescue. He lays down on the floor just like Phil and says, "Here, daddy, you just do this"...and then just jumps up from the laying down position - easy for a 4 year old! :)

Last night, Josh tells us that if there's an emergency, you need to call 101. I corrected him and told him it was 911. We talk about it for a few more minutes and he goes on to tell me that if you call 911, then a fireman or police officer (he uses this term instead of policeman) will come to your house. I told him that the only time he could call that is if we were at home and mommy or daddy got so sick that we couldn't make a phone call. Then he says, "I can call it if I'm here all by myself". I told him that he wouldn't ever be home by himself. His reply?? Well, if you and daddy are both dead, then I'll be here by myself and I can call 911. Yikes!!

Last story...

Josh was in the bathtub the other night. Phil usually gives him his bath, but I was upstairs ready to give him his bath that night. When I walk in, he says, "Look, Mommy!!"...I asked him what he was showing me. He said, "Look! My thing is sticking straight up!!!" Yes, you know exactly what he was talking about. So, I go on to ask him how it got that way. He said, "It's probably because I did this" as he showed me how he pulled on it a time or 2. I said, "Oh, that's what happened, huh?"...Josh: "No, it probably did it all by itself". I had to leave at this point and have Phil come back up and finish the bath. Where do little boys learn this??

Josh keeps life interesting!!

Therapy Updates

Callie & Emma had OT and PT evaluations on Friday...whew, that took a long time! Emma actually had a Physical Therapy evaluation and Callie had an Occupational Therapy evaluation. Emma will go back in a couple of weeks for her OT eval.

Emma did great - it was decided that she did not need physical therapy (which I didn't think she needed anyway). The one thing the therapist pointed out was that when Emma was on her tummy, she supported herself with her elbows instead of her hands. Well, then, Emma turns around and gets up on her hands and knees (which means she was supporting herself on her hands) and the therapist just had to laugh. She said Emma wasn't suppose to be doing that yet. She said she was ahead of the game there. She wants to see Emma 1 more time in a month just to check and make sure she's still moving okay.

Callie didn't enjoy her session quite as much. She had just awakened from a nap. She cried a good bit of the time. I finally had to get down in the floor with her. After that, she was a little happier.

Callie's not rolling over like she should and when you hold her, she stiffens up. Those are the 2 main things we're going to be working on with her. She almost rolls over - she can turn her whole upper body over, but she doesn't bring her legs and hips on over.

The therapist says that Callie has some insecurities and that's why she's stiffening up. That sounds really strange to me - how can an 8 month old have insecurities? She basically said that Callie doesn't know what to do with herself when someone picks her up and tries to cuddle with her, etc.

Her fine motor skills seem to be good - she was able to pick up cheerios with no problems. :)

The therapist wants to meet with Callie once a week for 3 months. I think that's a little extreme. After Emma has her eval, we'll schedule both girls (assuming Emma needs OT, too). I'm going to see if we can meet every other week. I don't feel either girl has any serious problems - they're not behind in their milestones (yet). I realize the therapy is to make sure they don't fall behind...and because of that, I don't see any reason to meet weekly. Phil and I are both working full time, so it's a little difficult to make that committment (unless they can meet at 5:00).

I think if they give us exercises and things to do at home, we'll be just fine.

Disney on Ice

Mom and I took Josh to Disney on Ice on Saturday. We had to leave his soccer game early to get there on time. We had great seats.

Josh loved it until they had fireworks and cannons shooting off. He does NOT like loud sounds. He was also a little afraid of Syndrome, the bad guy. He started crying and said he wanted to go home. :( I just held him and helped him cover his ears. After the Incredibles got the bad guy, Josh was okay again. :)

Disney should know better than to make things so loud...they cater to little kids, but big bangs and such tend to scare the little ones. It's too bad they can't find a way to do the pyrotechnics and such without making so much noise!

All of the kids got an Incredibles wrist band - Josh thought that was pretty neat. He just kept asking why they gave that to him! It lights up, so they used it in the show.

Josh, my Interior Decorator

Josh went to be at his normal time Monday night (8:00). We usually leave his lamp on for a little while so he can read a couple of books. Well, at 10:00, I went to check on him because I kept hearing noises.

I went in and he was wide awake. He says, "Look Mommy - look at what I did!". He then told me that his walls looked ugly so he wanted to fix them. We have Blue Jean Teddy Bear wall "stickers" on his wall from when he was a baby (we never took them off when he outgrew them). :) Anyway, he had totally rearranged everything to look "pretty". :) It just makes me dizzy to look at it. LOL I'll have to take a picture of his artwork. Luckily, he didn't do any damage and now we know the "stickers" haven't done any damage to the wall, either.

The girls are doing great. I think both of them are working on teeth. Emma now has 2 teeth, Callie has none. Callie has been extremely fussy lately, though. So, it probably won't be long before she has a tooth or 2. :)

We're going to Disney on Ice this weekend. The Incredibles will be there. Mom, Josh and I are going while Phil stays home with the girls.

Josh has a soccer game at 9:30 that morning, so we'll go for 30 minutes and then leave at 10:00. The show starts at 11:00. Hopefully, we can get down there in time.

It's Wednesday, I think

I just got back from the dentist and I'm numb! Ugh! :) I had a filling fall out and it had to be replaced today...oh joy!

I felt Emma's gums this morning and I believe another tooth has broken through...none for Callie yet.

Emma is now sitting up...she started one day last week. :)

Callie has decided she likes crackers! She was watching us eat supper last night and having an absolute fit! She does NOT like it when someone eats in front of her. LOL So, I gave her a cracker...she ate it (or most of it - I found some of it in her highchair)...then she "asked" for another one! For a girl that has no teeth, she sure does a good job eating!
