A Day at the Park

You're not going to believe this, but Josh actually talked to another kid yesterday at the playground!!! I was in shock and so proud!

First of all, when we got there, there were tons of kids there. Usually, Josh won't have anything to do with getting on the playground equipment if there are other kids there. It took him awhile, but he did get warmed up and claimed the playground as his own!

Later, after a bunch of the kids left, another family came in. They had a little boy about Josh's age and 2 girls (6 months and 20 months). Well, the little boy immediately took to Josh - asking him his name, etc. Josh literally ran away from the little boy. I just told him he was shy. I caught up with Josh and told him to talk to the little boy and quit running away from him!
After a few minutes, Josh started following the other boy around. Before you knew it, they were actually playing together. :)

Josh got something in his shoe and I was helping him get it out and he said, "Oh, he's going on the slide, I'd better hurry!!". :) A little later, Josh wanted the boy to get on this spaceship thing with him. I told him to go ask him. He said, "No, you go ask him". I just told him that if he wanted him to play with him, then he needed to ask him...He did!!! I was so proud of him! Better yet, the little boy came over and rode the spaceship with Josh. :)

Today is the 9 year anniversary of our first date. :) I can't believe we've been together this long - it seems like it was just yesterday we met!

We had our first family portrait taken this week. Josh didn't want to cooperate during the family picture, but we finally got a smile out of him for the individual pictures.

Emma got a little fussy, but all in all, everyone did a good job. I can't wait to get the pictures back!

I am back in the office as of this week (Monday was my first day). I can't believe how tired I am!! Even though I've been working at home, it's not the same. I can barely hold my eyes open right now.

Callie is starting to imitate me. When we're "playing", she immediately starts sticking her tongue out at me. This is a game we've played as soon as she could stay awake long enough. :) I also sing "la la la la" to the girls and now Callie is trying to do it.

Emma is really giving us some big grins and laughs lately!!

We go see Dr. Little next week to have Emma's ears checked. He'll determine whether he wants to put tubes in or not.

Dollywood

We took Josh (and the girls) to Dollywood yesterday. I think we've created a ride monster. We first took him over to the treehouse area while we fed the girls. Josh played in the sandbox and loved that.

After that, we got a quick snack (funnel cake) and headed over to the Country Fair section.

We rode the carousel first and Josh got a little nervous. After I put him on his horse, he started crying a little bit saying he didn't want to ride. Well, I got on my horse and just held his hand. After we got started, he decided it was okay afterall. When the ride was finished, he said he wanted to ride it again with daddy.

He enjoyed the ride a lot more the second time around.

We told Josh he could ride the Flying Elephants since we didn't get to ride them the last time we were there (too busy). I had my doubts about him really liking them since they went up in the air. I rode with him the first time and Josh LOVED it! He rode that thing 7 times. The only time we got off of the ride was when Phil and I changed places.

After the elephants, Josh talked his dad into riding the teacups (there's no way I could ride them - they make me sick). Josh loved being flung all over the place! Phil said he was fine until he looked up and saw the man in the next cup over turning green.

Josh's final hurrah was a ride on the bumblebees. This was a modified flying elephant ride (mostly for younger kids). He didn't seem to enjoy that one as much, but he wanted to ride it at least twice.

Luckily, the park wasn't very busy, so we didn't have to wait in line for anything!

The park closed at 7:00 and we finally convinced Josh to leave at 6:45. :)

We grabbed a quick supper at Bojangles and then headed home. When I got into the van at Bojangles, I caught my finger in the door. I don't even know how it happened. I think the door just closed on it's own. Luckily, it was just a little scrape and bruise - no broken bones. :)

One thing I forgot to mention...we felt like a "freak show" while we there. I can't believe how many people stopped and talked to us about the girls!! If they didn't actually stop us, they made comments when they walked by! LOL Have people never seen twins before? It's kind of funny, but at the same time, it would be nice to be able to walk through the crowd and left alone. I have a feeling the girls are in for years and years of attention.

3 Month Update

I can't believe the girls are 3 months old (as of yesterday)!

Callie weighed 12 lbs 6 oz and was 23 1/2" long.
Emma weighed 8 lbs 6 oz and was 21 1/2" long.

Even though Emma is much smaller, the doctor was pleased that she was gaining weight.

Both girls are doing fine developmentally. Callie is a little ahead and is at a 4 month old level. Emma is right on target.

No shots today! :) They go back in a month.

Josh has his 4 year old appointment on June 14. I can't believe my baby is going to be 4!!

The Circus!

We took Josh to the circus today. He had a blast! He was very apprehensive when we first got there - I don't think it was quite what he expected. He has a Disney Sing Along video made at the circus and I think he thought it would be just like that. Needless to say, it wasn't. It was very loud and he doesn't like loud noises.

However, he couldn't get enough of it! He hasn't stopped talking about it since we got home!

We spent too much money! Cotton Candy (with a hat) - $9, Snowcone in an Elephant cup - $8, Noisy, light up toy - $18...the look on Josh's face when he saw all of the acts - Priceless. :)

We got there early so we could go down on the floor and see some of the clowns and such. They were giving all of the kids clown noses, so Josh got his. :) I was taking a picture of the elephant drawing a picture when this clown came and grabbed my camera out of my hands and walked through the middle of the crowd to take the picture up close and personal. HA!! Luckily, he found me and gave me my camera back! We got a great picture of the elephant.

Afterwards, we went to lunch (yes, after eating a good bit of the cotton candy and snowcone). Josh wanted pizza, so we went to CiCi's...not my first choice in pizza, but it was cheap and fast. It actually wasn't that bad...it was busy enough for them to keep fresh pizzas up.

Mom kept the girls - THANK YOU! She's been a lifesaver lately!

To see circus pictures, go to our website - http://www2.globeserver.com/butler (Lots of Pictures of Me/2005). There are alot of fuzzy pictures, but I think it's because our camera is not set up to take action shots. I don't know if we have a setting wrong or what. I'll have to find the manual. :)

Friday!

I'm so glad today is Friday. I think I'm over this work thing. :)

We're taking Josh to the circus tomorrow. I hope he likes it! He seems to be excited about it - although, he may be more excited about getting cotton candy.

We're going to have a family portrait done next Saturday. I hope it turns out good! I'm not the most photogenic person at all. I want most of the pictures to be done of the kids anyway.

Emma is starting to really smile alot more now. It's nice to see her "responsive smiling". Callie has been smiling and cooing alot for the last couple of weeks. It's hard to believe they're almost 3 months old!

We're in the process of planning our beach trip for September! Yay!

You would think we would want to concentrate more on getting out of this house and into a new one. I don't know why we can't seem to get things together and get serious about getting out of here! What are we waiting for?

The girls are doing great at sleeping through the night! They slept from about 11:30 til 7:00 this morning! We try to feed them fairly late at night so they will sleep a little later in the morning. :)

Josh has FINALLY decided the big bed is for him. He's no longer in the crib. We're pitiful - he'll be 4 next month! He should have been out of that thing 2 years ago. But, it was such a comfort to him that we never pushed the issue. I think he sat on the stairs for a good while last night before he finally resigned himself to the bed. :) I tucked him in, but I don't think he stayed there. :)

Friday, May 6

Whew - what a week. :) I'm glad it's over. I have actually been busy at work. It has been difficult to get work done when the girls are awake.

Callie is starting to coo alot and she smiles all the time!
Emma is really starting to be interested in looking at people. She's not nearly as fussy as she has been and seems to be much more content. Maybe she was just colicky and she's about to outgrow it.

Both girls are sleeping great at night. They will go anywhere from 4-6 hours before waking up.

We're taking the kids to my parents tomorrow. We're going to a memorial service for our SIL's dad (he died a few weeks ago).

Phil's parents came down yesterday to watch the girls. It was nice having them here. I was able to run into the office for a little bit and then was able to get alot of work done when I got back. It felt good to get something accomplished!

Next Saturday, we're taking Josh to the circus. I know he's going to be so excited. Note to self - don't forget the camera!
