Birthday Party

Josh went to a birthday party for a little boy at school yesterday. They had it Carl Cowan park and it has a splash pad! What fun!!

Josh was quite timid at first. He didn't want to play with his friends. He just kept saying he wanted to go to Zach's birthday party - not realizing this WAS the birthday party. :)

After the cake, ice cream and presents, Josh finally warmed up to the idea of playing and had a blast! I'll post pictures later. All of the kids got water guns...Josh had never played with a water gun, but I decided to let him have it and he had a blast. He knew to only squirt his friends and not anyone else. :)

I got a little too much sun, but that's okay! Josh got a little burnt, but only in areas I missed with sunscreen (he's a little splotchy looking on his neck).

Josh has been invited to another birthday party next weekend at a place called Pump It Up. It's a place full of inflatable "toys" (climbing walls, moonwalks, etc.). That should be fun - and it's inside!

Updates!

Emma had her ABR hearing test today...boy, did that thing take a long time! We started a little after 9:00 and did not finish until a little after noon!

I had to hold her the whole time - luckily, they gave me a nice comfy chair to sit in. :) Emma was lightly sedated and slept pretty much the whole time. She did wake up towards the end, but her bottle satisfied her (she hadn't eaten since 11:00 the night before!).

She does have some mild hearing loss due to the middle ear not functioning properly. However, after all of her surgeries, that should fix that. They did a test that bypassed the middle ear and her hearing was just fine - thank goodness! So, the mild hearing loss should be temporary.

The doctor was out of town, so as soon as he's back and reviews Emma's tests, he'll let us know if there's anything he wants to do. It is possible that she'll have to wear hearing aids until all is better.

We were told that when we talk to her, to make sure we're pretty close to her and face on - speaking a little louder than normal. That's not a problem in our case, because Phil and I both have loud voices. :)

Callie & Emma also had their hip x-rays today. Callie's was fine, but they wanted to do an ultrasound on Emma's right hip - it looked funny in the x-ray. We went right in to the u/s and it took less than 5 minutes and everything was fine! YAY!!

All in all, we got very good news today. :)

Dear Jesus...

Josh has been invited to a birthday party on Sunday afternoon. We got the little boy some motorcycles (at Josh's request).

Well, last night, Josh was saying his prayers and his prayer goes like this:

"Dear Jesus,

Please help Zach get a motorcycle for his birthday!

Amen"

I guess his prayers are going to be answered since Josh got him a motorcycle! LOL

Emma Rolls!

Emma rolled from her tummy to her back yesterday. She's rolled all the way over a couple of times, but usually from back to tummy (and propped up a little on a pillow).

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see her! Our babysitter, Allison, told us about it.

Callie still isn't rolling much - if she's on a pillow, she can roll, but not from flat on the floor. She has a little more weight to roll over. She does turn herself around, though! :)

My nose isn't working right

Those were the words I heard from Josh Saturday morning. His nose was stopped up! Poor guy!

He just started taking Clarinex for his allergies and fluid build up in his ears. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. He's still a little stuffy, but not too bad - it sure isn't slowing him down!

Funny from Josh

We were at a Mexican restaurant and Josh said he wanted a taco. Well, without even thinking, I just ordered a regular taco, knowing he likes soft tacos better.

When it came out, he said he wanted an "easy taco". :) I guess he knew the opposite of hard was easy! LOL Luckily, the waitress brought us out a tortilla shell so Josh could have an easy...errr...soft taco. :)

Soccer

Registration for Upward Soccer has started this week. We may sign Josh up for it. He seems to be interested in it. I hope he truly is! :)

He did tell us that he didn't want us to stay and watch him. :( He's funny about having us watch him do things - it's almost like he's embarrassed for us to see him do something really good.

Parent orientation is August 11 at 6:30...this is the day of Emma's surgery. If her surgery goes well, then Phil should be able to go to orientation.

Their first game is September 10 - the day we leave for the beach.

I guess this season is starting out with a real bang, huh? :)

Weekend

We had a nice quiet weekend at home.

We went to Italian Market & Grill Saturday morning for breakfast - they have the best breakfast spread!! :)

We then went to Babies R Us and finally got Josh another booster seat. He's still in the carseat, but it's time to convert. :)

Emma was quite fussy over the weekend. She was running a bit of a fever Saturday evening. I gave her a little bit of Tylenol and got rid of the fever. I hope this is just teething. She was better on Sunday - still a little bit fussy, but no fever.

Josh goes to the ENT on Wednesday to see about having his tubes removed. He's had them since he was 1 1/2 years old (he's 4 now). We had no idea they were still there!

We found out some disturbing news this weekend. There was a murder in town last week and we found out that a guy that we grew up with is the one that committed it. The gal was pregnant and I guess he didn't want to face paying more child support. He (Terry Justus) has been charged with 2 1st degree murders. It's definitely not something we would have ever expected from him. It's been years since I've seen him.
