Productive Weekend and First Workout

Phil went to Gallatin yesterday for his uncle's funeral. They (he rode w/ the rest of his family) left our house at 8:30 and got back at 7:30, so I got to spend all day with the 3 kids.

Luckily, they were all 3 very good. Josh was a super duper good helper (his words). He really was a huge help.

I spent a good part of the day packing and cleaning (although, you'd never know it by looking at the house).

I packed up about 8 boxes from our dining room/office. This is to make room for Phil to move his office into the dining room (where my office is).

It's definitely time!! The girls are climbing all over the place...including on his computer table. There's no telling how much damage they've done. :)

I had my first workout at Curves this morning. I'm already hurting! I'll have to admit that I'm surprised at how good the workout is. I really thought it would be a more "wimpy" workout...and it probably is for those that are extremely fit and trim. I didn't really think I would break a sweat, but I did! HA!

It was really alot of fun. Everyone just chit chats and laughs together...everyone is there just to get in shape and lose some weight...no serious body building going on. It's a really relaxed atmosphere.

We're still waiting on Josh's x-ray results. I called this morning, but they weren't there yet. They said it may be after 3:30 before they get them.

Josh said his neck is feeling pretty good this morning. He still seems to be guarding it a little. That's not a bad thing - maybe he won't play quite so hard today.

Updates

I don't even remember when I posted last...

Phil's uncle passed away Thursday night. He and some of his family are driving to Gallatin tomorrow (leaving me home alone with all 3 kids). His mom isn't even able to go (it was her brother) because she just had surgery last week (had her ovaries removed). The doctor's don't want her around anyone. She's hoping to be able to get a tape of the funeral.

Last night, Josh did something to his neck again. If you recall, this happened the first time back in April. I had some left over medicine (muscle relaxer and pain killer), so I gave that to him as soon as it happened and then put a warm cloth on his neck. That seemed to get him through the night. I took him to the doctor this morning. Luckily, the doctor agreed with me that this was not a normal thing for a 5 year old. So, he sent us over to Children's to have a spinal x-ray done. I'm to call him on Monday for the results.

I just hope this is nothing serious...I really hope he's just sleeping wrong or something. I did go out and buy him a new pillow today.

Because of his neck, Josh missed 2 birthday parties today. I'll just send the gifts with him to school on Monday.

On the plus side, I'm going to see Mama Mia on Thursday night. I'm really excited. Of course, we bought the cheap tickets and are in the nosebleed section of the auditorium. I'm going with a couple of friends from work.

I also joined Curves on Thursday. My first workout is Monday. I had to schedule that one because I have to meet with the trainer so she can show me all of the machines. I hope I don't keel over! HA! I am so out of shape. This sounds perfect for me, though. It's a 30 minute workout 3 days a week. I can go during my lunch hour. I know I won't even dream of going after work. So, a mid day workout should work just fine for me.

Trip to West Virginia

Mom and I took the kids to WV this weekend to visit some of her family. It was a whirlwind trip, but nice to see everyone.

We decided to take Mom's car...we got 2 carseats and a booster seat in her backseat...it was a little tight, but not bad. I don't think we want to do another long trip in the car again. HA!

Josh couldn't keep his hands off of his sisters, which either made them mad or got them excited - either way, it was loud.

The kids did alright. We had a few temper tantrums out of Josh and Callie (mostly because they were tired?? Josh's tantrums weren't all sleepy tantrums...they were "I'm not getting my way" trantrums.

Emma remained pretty calm during the whole trip. :)

I was very tired when we got home and went to bed pretty early (as did the kids).

We got back home around 1:30. Josh had a gym show at 3:30...not much downtime. However, he did an awesome job! I was so proud of him for even participating. Not only did he participate, he had a good time. :) It was a very informal show. A gym bus (converted scohol bus with gym equipment in it) comes to his school once a week and they learn some gymnastics and such. So, yesterday was their "show & tell" time.

This will be Josh's last month with the gym bus since he'll be starting school. I'll post pictures on our website later (http://butler.globeserver.com).

I tried to post some individual pictures, but I guess blogger doesn't like my pics. I keep getting errors. Oh well! To see pictures, just follow the link above. :)

Where have my weekends gone?

We just realized that we do not have 1 single free weekend between now and the end of September!!

Mom and I are taking the kids to WVa this weekend to visit some of her family. We're having to come back really early on Sunday because Josh has a gym show (gym bus from daycare) on Sunday afternoon.

July 29 - Josh has a birthday party
Aug 5 - Josh's preschool graduation
Aug 12 - Hopefully, a trip to Splash Country
Aug 19 - Hmmm...maybe this one really is free!
Aug 26 - Josh starts swim lessons with Mr. Ed...through the end of September.

It's a busy time for us!!

Plus, school starts somewhere in all of the bustle of activities! Yikes! My baby boy is going to school this year!

We're still waiting on the letter to tell us exactly what days he will be going in August (kindergarteners stagger the first couple of weeks).

I thought this was Monday!!

Oh dear, I'm losing my mind!

I took yesterday off and now I am thinking today is Monday...where is my brain.

Phil and I "moved" yesterday. My parents got a 12x20 storage shed (the Barn, as Josh calls it). It's a very nice storage building/shed/barn (whatever you want to call it). Anyway, we moved almost 50 boxes over there yesterday. This is an attempt to clean our house out enough to get it ready to sell next year (yeah, right). It's also an attempt to move Phil out of his office and into the dining room/office so the girls can have their own room.

We made 3 trips to Seymour and we barely made a dent in the basement...not looking good! HA! It was hotter than all get out yesterday, too! YUCK!

Remind me that we really don't want to move in the middle of July next year. :) Phil said if we do that, we're hiring movers (which we'll do anyway).

Oh, the differences!

It's so fun to see the differences in the girls!

Emma is so determined...she will sit there for ever trying to make something work. She had a ziplock bag (Josh's jacks) the other day. She worked for 30 plus minutes trying to open that bag. She knew what she HAD to do, she just didn't have the power/strength to actually open the bag.

Well, Callie took her turn at it. After about 30 seconds, she just got mad at it and threw it down. LOL This child has NO patience whatsoever!!

It's going to be interesting to see if these traits follow them all of their lives. If so, Callie may stay angry most of the time (I hope not).

Callie does get frustrated easily, while nothing bothers Emma.

Emma is such a tease. She's constantly stealing Callie's paci...Callie yells, Emma laughs and then gives it back to her. :)

On the other hand, Callie loves to hug! She's constantly hugging her dolls, Emma, us, etc. When she gives hugs, she gets very quiet and says "aaawwww" and is so sweet. Emma will give hugs and do the same thing, but not as much as Callie.

It's fun to watch them interact. For the most part, they just ignore each other, but there are times when they actually do things "together". :)

Is it Friday yet?

Oh, I'm so ready for this week to be over.

Work has been a bear since the holidays. We have a system where issues are assigned to us on a weekly basis. Well, I typically have 3-4 issues (quite often taking 2-3 days each). Well, since last Wednesday, I have done about 120 issues and there are another 104 in my inbox. Hello! Can you say, "BUSY"?? Granted, many of the issues are 5 minute tasks, and that's fine. What I'm having trouble with is keeping track of all of the little "gotcha's" so I can send them on to our DBA and Project Manager to confer with the client. Oh well - job security, right? HA!

This is the first day this week that I've not had a sinus headache (yay). I just love when weather fronts go through.

We're going to see a Smokies Baseball game Friday night. Josh is so excited! All of his baseball knowledge comes from a Scooby Doo episode. LOL Boy, is he in for a surprise! He may be a little disappointed when the Baseball Spector (the monster in Scooby Doo) doesn't show up. It will be interesting to see how the girls do. The game starts at 7:15...their bedtime! It's a good thing it's Friday night. I hope they'll stay up for awhile. I'm going to take their pj's and change them before we leave - that way, we can just put them to bed when we get home.

Uh-Oh

Uh-Oh...that's what Emma says just BEFORE she drops something on the floor! LOL What a stinker! Then she gives her cute little grin. Oy!!

When the girls got up this morning, Callie went over and gave Emma a big 'ol bear hug! :) Callie loves to hug! :)

Callie is also saying Emma now! :) She pointed to her and said her name. She's been doing that with Josh for awhile, but now she knows Emma, too! Woo hoo!

Josh went shopping Friday with his birthday money. It was hard to gently direct him to not get anything junkie. He wound up with 1 junkie pack (had a yo-yo, paddle ball, jacks and a jump rope). The paddle ball broke before we ever got home! Anyway, he wound up with a Red Power Rangers motorcyle (w/ figure) and 2 Scooby Doo movies. It's been kind of fun sitting around and watching Scooby Doo!

Nice Long Weekend!

Oh, I just love these long weekends. Why can't every weekend be a long one? :)

I took Josh to get his hair cut Saturday morning (and my eyebrows waxed). :) I stopped by the consignment shop and got to pick up another $37 check...woo hoo! LOL Anyway, glad I stopped by, because I found out they're taking fall clothes right now. I guess I'd better get my rear in gear and get those clothes ready. Oy!

That afternoon, we all packed up and went grocery shopping. Then, we all got treated to some Baskin Robins icecream. Yum! The girls really loved their ice cream, daddy's ice cream, Josh's ice cream and my Bold Breeze. :)

Sunday, Phil took Josh to see Cars. Josh was way too excited! He just couldn't stand it. While they were gone, the girls and I got a glorious 2 hour nap! Wow!! When the guys got back, Josh came in very slowly and solemn. I asked him what was wrong and he said nothing. Uh-oh...I was afraid he had gotten into trouble for something. He didn't...Phil said he was just wiped out! He fell asleep in the van almost immediately. :)

Monday, we took the kids to the Splash Pad for a little while. They all had fun. We had a "real" picnic, as Josh would put it. We spread out a blanket on the ground and ate. Oh - what a pain. Where's a good picnic table when you need one??

Tuesday, Wendy came in from Memphis. After she got there, we left for mom & dad's for a yummy cook out. We left around 7:00, though. Since we had to get up early this morning, we decided not to make it a late night.

The girls fell asleep on the way home (of course). We were able to get them a quick bath before going to bed.

Josh was in bed when the neighbors started shooting off fireworks. Of course, he was "scared" and had to come back downstairs. We let him watch the fireworks out the window for a little while. Luckily, our next door neighbors stopped shooting them off at 9:30.

Wendy, Phil and I watched the Pink Panther movie with Steve Martin last night. It was pretty funny.

It sure was hard to get up for work this morning!!

I'm ready for the weekend again!!
