The weekend and doctor's

The weekend started out really nice. The kids and I went to Dixie Stampede with Mom & Dad (Phil stayed home and worked). The kids had a blast. All Callie could talk about was "going to the show". :) She got a little scared when the buffalo came out, but once the horses started coming out, she warmed up to the whole show a little more.

None of the kids ate much because they were too interested in the show. :)

We stayed w/ Mom & Dad Friday night and just played on Saturday. The kids played in the sandbox until Callie threw sand in Josh's face...that put an end to the sandbox. But, the enjoyed getting sprayed off w/ the water hose.

Saturday night, Josh woke up crying. He said his cheek was hurting...then he said his tooth was hurting. I thought he had a toothache (he had complained about it before, but just had something stuck in there). Anyway, I gave him some Motrin to see if that would help. He slept for a bit and then woke up again. Phil slept with him for awhile and then came back to bed. Josh woke up again and then I tried to sleep w/ him for awhile (and another dose of Tylenol). We finally just went downstairs to try to sleep in the recliner - hoping that would help him. It didn't. He finally fell asleep on the couch.

He slept most of Sunday. He did start complaining about his ear hurting. It was late Sunday afternoon before we decided it really was his ear and not his tooth. We gave him some eardrops and that seemed to help. He was able to sleep through the night.

I took him to the dr the next morning and found out both ears were infected. He's taking antibiotics for the next 10 days.

While we were at the dr, I asked about getting another referral to the speech therapist for Emma. When Josh and I were almost home, I got a call saying there had been a cancellation and could we come right now? We did...if we didn't, it would be another month or so before getting in there. Anyway, she recommended Emma for speech therapy. We go for our 1st session in July.

Poor Callie...she felt so neglected during all of this. She got mad at Josh when he wanted to just cuddle up with me on Sunday. She literally tried to push him away from me. She got mad when I picked Josh up to go to the dr yesterday. She got mad when I took Emma to the dr yesterday.

Last night at supper, she said, "I'm sitting with Mama!!" And she did! She would lean over to me every little bit and pat my shoulder and tell me something. :) She's 100% mama's girl (for now).

Happy Birthday, Josh!

Josh turned 6 yesterday!!

He had a big birthday party at the Splash Pad on Saturday and had a blast! The kids love playing there and the weather was perfect!

After the birthday party, we came home and had a family party. Mom, Dad, and Scott were there. The kids were thrilled to have so much attention! :) They were worn out at the end of the day, though (as were Phil and I).

Sunday, Josh wanted to go to McDonald's for lunch - Yum Yum! :) After that, we went to Toys R Us. He's been saving his money to get some Heely's, but decided a Gameboy would be better. So, with his birthday money and allowance, we went to TRU and he bought his first Gameboy. He made the transaction all by himself. :) He looked so nervous, but so grown up. :) We bought him a Mario game.

After that, we ran by Walmart - mainly to get some batteries for some of his new toys. We bought another game (Cars). Josh also wanted some Power Ranger thing...it was $3 cheaper at Walmart than TRU, so he got that, too.

He was one happy little boy. He played his Gameboy while the rest of us took a nap. When we woke up, he was crashed out in the floor, wrapped up in his blanket, sound asleep. :) I actually had to wake him up to go eat supper.

We went to McKays used bookstore beforehand, and Josh got the Grinch (movie). He was dying to watch it, so he started watching it when we got home. I guess we'll watch the rest of it tonight.

He's going to VBS at Concord Baptist all week. They bring a bus to pick the kids/teachers up at daycare and take them. I hope he has fun. He was a little concerned he would be "scared" of the show. They put on quite the production and I think it was a little loud and scary for him last year. I made sure he knew that it was just people dressed up and there were no real "bad" guys. I think he didn't want to go because his best friend wasn't getting to go this week (he has bad allergies and they have to be really careful what kind of things he's around).

Anyway, it was a really nice weekend!

Cute Stuff

Let me preface this by saying this...Callie never talks when she's at daycare...not a word.

Anyway, we were going in this morning and she turns around and says to me, "Mommy, you have pretty pink sandals!". One of the teachers heard her and said, "She does speak!!". Then Callie turned around and said, "I eat breakfast with Joshy".

After we got into the cafeteria, she shut her mouth and didn't open it again. :)

Callie has found these 2 erasers that look like Easter Eggs. Well, she carries them with her all the time now! Last night, at church, she had them and kind of dropped them beside her when she was sitting in the floor. Well, Emma saw that she didn't have them, so reached over and picked them up and handed them to Callie. :) It was so sweet!! If it had been the other way around, Callie would have snatched them and held on to them - she would never have given them back to Emma. :)

Emma takes care of her sister!

Josh is going to the zoo today with his daycare. He took $5 out of his allowance money to buy something there. We discussed what he could get...he could get a couple of the plastic animals they have set up at machine throughout the zoo (those are $1 each) or he could get a stuffed snake ($3.99). It will be interesting to see what he comes home with. I told him if he just got a couple of the plastic animals, he'd have money left over and he could save it to buy something else.

Speaking of which, Josh's birthday is this weekend and he wants Heely's (shoes w/ wheels). I told him that I was not spending that much on a pair of shoes for him that he couldn't wear anywhere (they're being banned in school and such). Anyway, I told him he had to earn the money himself and we started an allowance. He's actually saved $30. He asked if he could use his birthday money and I told him he could. Well, he's also been wanting a Game Boy. They're about the same price. I told him he could either get the shoes or the game - he has chosen the game (thank goodness). I never thought I'd be so happy that he's getting a video game over a pair of shoes. He'd be one of those to fall and break a bone.

So, we're going to go Sunday and get the Game Boy (Grandparents are giving him $$).
