Stuff going on...

We were suppose to meet a friend for supper last night. But, when I got home, Callie was running a fever. :( We have no idea what was wrong with her. Mom said she was cranky all day. I gave her some Tylenol and that seemed to help...she kept going from cranky to happy all evening. Finally, around 6:30, she said, "I'm ready for bed". This is not normal behavior from a 2 year old. :)

We're going to try to meet our friend for supper again tonight.

Josh woke up this morning beggin us not to take him to Kiddie Kottage. He's thrown a fit quite often the last couple of weeks. He just plain doesn't want to go. He says, "It's boring". I'm not sure I buy that...I've talked to the teachers and they have no idea what's going on.

I think he's tired. He's been on the go so much this summer that I think he's just ready to stop doing things. They've gone on 3 field trips every week since school was out. I think he's over it.

I think he'll be glad when school starts next week (I hope).

I went school shopping during lunch today and got him a backpack/messenger bag. He said he wanted one that goes over his shoulder this time (messenger bag), so I found one at Target. Hopefully, he'll like it.

I've also managed to get him 2 Hot Wheels lunchboxes. I didn't mean to. I placed a bid on ebay about 4 days ago (never dreaming I'd actually win it). Well, after I placed the bid, I found a different lunchbox online (can't find them in the stores). So, I went ahead and bought that one. Well, I got an email today and found out I had won the other lunchbox, too. Oh well! Now, Josh has 2 to choose from.

Emma has her first real speech therapy session on Thursday. I'm anxious to see what they do. We're only going the 1st and 3rd Thursday's of the month, so we'll do what we can at home.

School starts next week and we still have no idea who Josh's teacher is. We haven't received anything about a school supply list (although the one from last year is posted on their website). I'm going by that one - I can't imagine that it would be that different from this years.

I don't like not knowing what's going on. I heard rumors that Tuesday night is when we're suppose to go and meet the teachers...again, nothing in the mail about it. If I don't get something soon, I'll call the school later this week. Communication is a good thing!

This week!

This has been a busy week!

Josh spent the night w/ mom and dad on Tuesday night. They went to Dollywood yesterday. I think Josh enjoyed the time by himself! :) He had a great time. He had his own money, too, so he was thrilled to get to shop for himself. He bought some candy (big surprise) and a Mystery Mine sun visor (which he looks way too cute in).

Yesterday, we finally had another speech evaluation for Emma. The therapist was great...she used to be on a cleft team in Dallas, so she actually had some experience w/ cleft children! Yay!

After all of the testing, she decided Emma could use some help w/ just her speech (duh)...her language skills, comprehension level, etc. were fine. We could have told them that. HA! She just has trouble saying her words.

She will start therapy next week...we're only going to go twice a month (going every week is just not possible). The goal is for the therapist to teach Phil and me how to teach Emma. Once she turns 3, she'll be able to use the therapists in the school system (if needed).

I'm just thrilled someone will be helping Emma w/ her words - she tries so hard!!

Callie had to go to school all by herself yesterday. :) She actually did just fine. She was very stoic once we got there...she sat in her chair and didn't move a muscle (pretty typical). One of these days she's going to relax. However, she did great - wasn't upset about being left alone.

One of the little boys sat down with her (as told by his mommy). He kept saying, "Hi!!"...getting louder and louder - just in case Callie didn't hear him. She just stared straight ahead trying to ignore him. He said, "I'm nice!!". :) He told her Hi one more time. This time, she kind of raised her finger and gave him a slight nod. Poor kid - he couldn't figure out why this crazy girl wasn't talking to him! LOL

Josh has gone to Laser Quest today w/ daycare...what a fun field trip. I wanted to go!! :) I didn't dare tell Josh that it was dark in there...he was already a little nervous about going after I tried to explain to him what it was. Hopefully, he's having a good time! I think once he gets what's going on, he'll be fine. :)

Trip to Memphis

Mom, the kids and I went to Memphis this past weekend to see Wendy.

We stayed at Park Place in Memphis - a little further away from Wendy than we planned, but it wasn't that bad...the hotel was very nice.

Wendy and Josh went swimming Friday night - which Josh LOVED! :)

We went to the zoo on Saturday. We spent about 4 hours there and we were all worn out! After that, we went back to Wendy's and then over to a friend's house to take advantage of their pool.

The kids had a great time!

Josh got in the deep water once and couldn't get back out - I think it scared him a little bit. I was only a couple of feet away and helped him out.

After we got out of the pool, they played on the swingset in the yard...had a wonderful time until Emma fell off of the swing (which was basically standing still at that point). She scratched her back up a little bit. :(

We got home around 5:00 on Sunday and we were all wiped out!!

A Visit to Kingsport

We went to Kingsport this weekend to visit Phil's family. The kids had a great time (we all did).

Josh loved being able to ride his bike and scooter somewhere other than our driveway. :)

The kids got to play in the sprinkler. Josh and Callie really loved that! I don't think Emma enjoys that quite as much as the others, though.

Junior has a r/c car and the kids got way too excited over that. All 3 of them were chasing it (when it wasn't chasing them). :)

I got a little camera happy and took over 200 pictures while we were there. To see them, go to http://butler.globeserver.com/2007/0708/index.html.

We got a new camera!!

We got an Olympus SP550UZ (I think the letters are right). :) So far, it seems like a really nice camera...it has an 18x optical zoom, ISO up to 5000 (even though that's almost useless), dual image stabilizer, etc.
Phil's going out today to get a memory card for it. Right now, I'm just using the internal memory and I can only take about 10 pictures at a time. HA!!
Hopefully, this one will last awhile. It's not bad for a point and shoot camera!! :)
Sorry the pictures are so big - I didn't resize them. I just took them from our website. :)

The Girls...

Callie & Emma are at my mom & dad's right now. While I was on the phone w/ mom this morning, the girls were messing with the tv. She told them several times to leave it alone.

After we got off of the phone, she told the girls again to leave the tv alone (they were turning it off and on). Mom finally said, "Girls, I'm going to have slap your little hands if you don't leave the tv alone". At that point, Emma turned around and held out her hand (to be slapped). Callie saw what Emma was doing and held her hand out, too.

Mom tapped each of their hands and they turned around and walked away from the tv!

Yes, the girls know when they're doing something they're not suppose to...and yes, they seem to know the consequences! :)

Bye Bye Cribs!

Well, the cribs are gone (almost). :( A friend of mine at work is due in a couple of months and we gave them on of our cribs. They picked it up on Saturday.

For now, we have put the crib mattresses on the floor for the girls. They think it's pretty neat to have their beds on the floor! :)

Callie hasn't mastered the art of staying on her bed, though. Emma did a pretty good job. For some reason, Callie decided she wanted to be on the other side of the room, so the girls basically switched beds. Poor Emma, she never seems to have a say in the matter...when Callie makes a decision, that's it...luckily, Emma goes with the flow.

Anyway, both girls went to bed really well in their new beds on Saturday night. I did go up and check on them once and Callie was sound asleep. Emma was sitting right next to Callie with her elbow propped on the bed. I'm not sure if she wanted her bed back or what...she was just sitting there very calm. :) I hugged her and put her back on her new bed...she fell asleep within minutes.

When we went to bed, Callie was laying half on the bed and half on the floor. I put her back on the mattress.

Phil said he went in around 3:00 or so (Emma was fussing). Callie was totally in the floor. :) Luckily, Emma went right back to sleep.

We did buy twin mattresses for them on Saturday. We'll get one set tomorrow and the other sometime in the next couple of weeks (they only had one in stock). I think we'll keep the mattresses on the floor for awhile until they get used to them...then we'll put them up on rails. We'll also need to buy another set of safety rails to put on the side of their bed, since we KNOW Callie will fall out of bed.

It was kind of hard giving up the crib...we've had a crib in our house for 6 years. Now we're all going to have "big" beds. My babies aren't babies anymore!
