Nice Long Weekend

It's been a really nice weekend...relatively quiet for once!

We didn't do much of anything all weekend! We played outside on Saturday. The kids got out the water toys and wading pool. Oh, what fun!! :)

Sunday was a hang out at the house and do nothing day. We watched movies all day (well, all weekend). I took Josh to Hollywood video and he got a Fantastic Four (cartoon) and a Scobby Doo DVD. We watched both ALL weekend long! :)

Monday, we took the kids to the park and then out to eat with my parents, brother and his wife (it was Scott's birthday).

It was hard getting up this morning - not that we got to sleep in late any over the weekend (the kdis have built in alarm clocks). :) However, we did get to nap periodically through the day.

Emma was up for a couple of hours last night (after midnight). I think she's teething (felt a tooth pop through on the right side). This one seems to really be hurting her. We did the orajel and Tylenol thing and after about an hour, she finally fell asleep (which meant Phil & I got to sleep). We just brought her to bed with us because she was so fussy. After she was sound asleep, I put her back in her own bed (thank goodness).

This is going to be a very short week for me! I had yesterday off (Memorial Day) and I'm taking Friday off. Wendy is coming in Thursday night, so I'm taking Friday off to visit. I think we're going to take the kids to the Splash Pad. Mom's going to come up and meet us for lunch - hopefully, she'll come to the Splash Pad with us.

Friday night, we're having some friends over for pizza and a night of just hanging out.

What do I do?

Poor Josh, he seems to have an unusual fear of dogs...I'm not sure why - we've never done anything to encourage this fear.

Our neighbors have a dog (part Weimaraner and part something else). The dog isn't that big (medium sized dog), he's friendly and not aggressive.

Well, lately, the dog has been off of his leash more and more. He usually minds his own business, but occasionally comes into the yard (scaring Josh absolutely to death).

This morning, Josh looked out the window and saw the dog was off of his leash. Josh REFUSED to leave the house unless I carried him. I went outside and the dog was nowhere to be seen at the time (he saw the dog almost an hour earlier running around).

Josh was crying and screaming. I finally got him to the car. Josh spotted the dog asleep in his own yard. He calmed down and just said, "I didn't know he was asleep".

How do I get him over this fear? I think it's good that he's wary of dogs, but he knows this dog. I hate that he's scared to go outside because of him.

Granted, the dog should not be off of his leash if he's outside. I haven't said anything to the neighbors (don't want to even go there), because the dog really hasn't bothered us - other than the time he went into the gargage. I really don't want the dog in our yard - I don't want to clean up his poop. :)

I just wish Josh wasn't so petrified...I mean, it's a true fear (even if it's an over exaggerated one).

Busy Weekend

We started bright and early Saturday morning. Actually, everyone slept until about 7:15 - which is late for us anymore (oh, where did those days of sleeping until 10:00 go?).

Anyway, we got up and ate breakfast. After that, I took Josh and Callie to get Josh's haircut. Then, we stopped at the consignment shop to pick up a check (a whopping $37). :) After that, we went to a bead show at Lily's Beads. I want to make a 3 strand bracelet with each one of the kids names on it.

We came home for some lunch. Phil had to meet a friend of his to discuss business (yes, on the weekend). Josh REALLY wanted to go to the park, so I got brave and took all 3 kids to the park for about an hour. The girls loved the swings (you can see pictures on our family website - click the link at the top of the page).

We came home just in time for it to storm really bad. I fell asleep for about 30 minutes (Phil got home about 10 minutes after we did).

We went to a birthday party at Events at Sherlake Saturday evening (5-7). We were wiped out after that. Phil and I stayed up to watch Red Eye - not a bad movie.

Sunday, I felt like we started it all over again. We made it to church (I'm not quite sure how), came home for a quick lunch and then off to another birthday party! Phil kept the girls at home (lucky him) while I took Josh to Pump It Up. I am so sore now! I went down the slide one too many times, I think. It was fun, though.

We stopped at the grocery store and got home in time for supper. After that, the kids played for a little bit while I tried to clean up (ha). I managed to get the downstairs bathroom cleaned and the kitchen swept (no, I didn't get around to mopping it).

We got the kids into bed and then I crashed on the couch for a little bit. I just finished posting some more pictures (park pictures, 15 month Watch me Grow pictures, etc.).

We're getting ready to sit down and watch the season finale of Desperate Housewives - I just hope I can stay awake. HA!

Hopefully, next week will be much quieter. This was a fun weekend, but there was no relaxing involved at all!

I can't seem to keep up! 15 month appt!

Okay - I've been called on it - not blogging as often as I should. Bad Kim!! :)

The girls had their 15 month appointment this morning. I am saying lots of prayers that Miss Callie will stop growing at 6'!!

Callie was 24 lbs 6 oz (75%) and 33" long (over 97%). We have a very tall girl on our hands!
Emma was 19 lbs 3 oz (5%) and 30 1/2" long (25-50%). She's going to be tall & skinny. :)

Both girls got 3 shots - YUCK. On the plus side, they won't have any more shots until they're 5! Woo hoo!! Which reminds me, Josh has his 5 year appt on June 12...guess what? He gets shots! :( Poor guy!

This is going to be a very busy weekend. Josh has a hair appointment in the morning. From there, we're going to a bead show. I haven't made any jewelry in over a year, but I've been wanting to make a name bracelet with all 3 kids names on it. I priced the beads online and it will cost about $60, so I'm hoping to find a better deal at this show on Saturday (it's in Western Plaza at Lily's Beads).

Then, Josh has a birthday party at Events at Sherlake Saturday evening and another one at Pump it Up on Sunday afternoon. I think I'm going to be all partied out.

Let's see...what else is going on?? Who knows? Hmmm...we got a new grill last night. Our last one just bit the dust - the burners just fell apart. So, we're looking forward to something yummy on the grill tonight. Phil's just dying to try it - I think he was going to grill out a piece of chicken for lunch today. :)

I guess that's it for now - I'll try to keep up better!

Mother's Day Weekend

We had a really nice weekend. We got up early on Saturday and headed to Pigeon Forge for a day at Dollywood. We didn't tell Josh where we were going. When we finally got there and got in the parking lot, he finally said, "This looks like Dollywood!". He was excited.

It wound up being a good day to go. The weather was perfect and it wasn't too crowded until later in the afternoon. We rode a few rides and then Josh wanted to play at the treehouse. We spent over an hour there. He loved it! The girls were able to get out of the stroller and play in a little section they have set up just for the little ones.

Josh wasn't too happy when it was time to leave. He was so tired (like he would admit it). After a late lunch, we drove through Townsend to go home. I think everyone was out of it. Phil had to pull over and let me drive because he was so sleepy (I wasn't doing much better).

Sunday was a nice, quiet day. After church and lunch, we came home and crashed. The kids took late naps, but I took one as soon as we got home. :)

The gifts were nice, too. Josh picked out a couple of necklaces at Kohls (costume jewelry). I also got a really nice cheese grater that I've been wanting. Phil also got a cheese slicer and a potsticker folder (I think this was more for him than me). At any rate, he had fun in Cook's Corner and then we had fun making homemade potstickers last night (Yum).

Oh yeah, Phil also suprised me with some flowers.

All in all, it was a very nice weekend.

I'm not sure what we'll do for Father's Day - my birthday is the same day! LOL :)

Oh, What a Mess!

I went to check on Josh and Callie (they're in the same room right now) before I went to bed. The room smelled like baby powder! I didn't even know we had any baby powder around. Well, we did and Josh found it.

First of all, I would have expected this out of Callie & Emma, but not Josh. He dumped a whole bottle of baby powder on the floor and his bookshelf! Then, he added some baby lotion! Hello?!! What a mess!

He had enough sense to change his pj's, but he had it all over his sheets and everywhere! It took me awhile to find the source of the problem. I made him get up and I changed his sheets. Then, when I realized it was all over the floor, I decided it wasn't a good thing for them to be breathing baby powder all night. So, I put Callie in the crib with Emma (still in our room until we have another bedroom free). I put Josh in bed with Phil and me.

Josh's excuse?? First of all, he said he couldn't sleep. :) Then, he said his bad ears took over his good listening ears and he forgot that he was making a bad choice...and he forgot to tell us that he did it! I wasn't sure whether to laugh or what.

Anyway, his punishment is no tv and no lights on at night (he likes to lay in bed with the hall light on - just enough for him to play quietly or look at a book)...this will be for at least 2 nights. He did apologize. Then, in his pitiful voice, he asked if he was going to get a spanking. I told him not this time. He was relieved. :)

I'm not sure what he was thinking! So, now I have to go home today and vacuum up all of that baby powder!! What a mess!!

Sweet Children

Josh was so super sweet this morning. He was talking about Mother's Day and he said to me, "I've thought about it and I know what I'm getting you! I'm going to get you a necklace and a ring and my daddy's going to help me pick it out.". How sweet is that? I did tell him that the items we saw at Target the other day were fine, too (stainless steel colander and a metal cheese grater).

Emma has been throwing kisses for quite awhile now, but last night, I asked Callie to throw me a kiss. The silly girl threw her hand up to her head and threw a kiss - never mind that it was more of a salute! I asked her several times to give me a kiss and that's what she did...laughing the whole time. I think she knew she was being silly! :) It doesn't matter, I still got a kiss from her. :)

We had baked potatoes for supper last night. Phil threw the leftovers in the trashcan. The next thing we knew, Callie was digging the potatoes out of the trashcan and eating them. Yum! Luckily, there was nothing else gross around the potatoes, so I guess they were pretty safe to eat. :)

Oh, these silly, sweet kids! :)

Been awhile...

It's been awhile since I've updated!

It's been busy around here! I'm up to my eyeballs in work and haven't had time to "play". :)

Last weekend was a very busy weekend for us. Friday night, we went over to some friends for supper and some playtime. Josh was having a good time until we noticed he was holding his head funny (still a little stiff from the neck injury the week before). Well, when Phil called him over to look at it, he about blew a gasket! I'm not sure if he was embarrassed or what, but he had a major meltdown. We kept trying to tell him he wasn't in trouble, but that we were just worried that he'd hurt his neck again. Well, he didn't buy it and just got worse. At that, we just packed up the van and went back home (play time was over). It was close to time to go home anyway, so he really didn't miss much. We gave him some medicine to help him sleep and to relax his neck again. By Saturday, he was fine again (thank goodness).

Saturday, we went to the zoo with Josh's school class. He was very impatient. He didn't care if we waited on his friends or not before moving on to the next thing. He finally calmed down after a little while. I guess he was too excited and we were going too slow. Mom came with us while Phil stayed at home and worked. The girls had a good time, too, I think. Of course, they were stuck in the stroller all day. Josh and I got brave and rode the camel. Just before we got on, Josh decided he was too scared to do it! I put him on the camel and climbed on behind him. He was fine once we started moving. This kid does NOT like "new" situations at all!

Once we got home, I crashed! We got to the zoo at 9:30 that morning and didn't get home until 3:00. The girls took nice long naps, too.

The owner of Josh's preschool (Kiddie Kottage) was in a bad wreck Friday night. She wound up having her arm amputated. I'm not sure about all of the details, but it sounded like she had her arm propped out the window when she was hit. She seems to be doing as well as can be expected. It's so tragic to think how quickly life can change. Thank goodness she didn't lose her life.

Tonight is Ladies Night Out! I love the 1st Thursday of the month! :) We're going to Kanpai of Tokyo tonight. Phil's really good to keep the kids when I go out. He only mildly whines (and then it's mostly just teasing). :) I know the kids like having some daddy time!
